MCA Fitness Camp: Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, has been included in the 45-member squad for the fitness camp by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The 26-year-old Iyer was injured during the ODI series against England in March. Due to this, he was also out of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from Iyer, the Mumbai selection committee headed by former cricketer Salil Ankola has also selected regular members of the Indian team Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Prithvi Shaw for their fitness camp.


Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar's son and left-arm fast bowler Arjun Tendulkar has also been kept in the team for this fitness camp. MCA gave this information while issuing a statement. Also, he said in his statement, "The schedule of the fitness camp will be announced at the appropriate time."

Iyer had surgery on his shoulder 


26-year-old Iyer was injured while trying to block Jonny Bairstow's shot during the first ODI against England in Pune on 23 March. Due to this, he was out of the remaining matches against England and also from IPL 2021. Iyer suffered a serious shoulder injury. After the scan it was found that he would have to undergo shoulder surgery. After which successful operation of his shoulder was done. 


Iyer, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, is expected to return to the field in the second stage of the IPL starting in September. In such situation, it will be interesting to see how he will perform in the IPL.
