New Delhi: There have been rumours about a biopic on Sourav Ganguly's life. Looks like these rumours have some meat to it this time. A report in News18 has quoted Sourav Ganguly confirming his biopic.

The current BCCI chief who also was a decorated Indian captain had a stellar career in cricket and now is also a pretty successful cricket administrator. It would be a joy for cricket fans to experience his life story on celluloid.

“Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything," Ganguly was quoted by News18.

Ranbir Kapoor as Sourav Ganguly?

The report also mentioned that Ranbir Kapoor is being considered for the role of playing Sourav Ganguly. Although there is no confirmation yet on who would play the lead role in the film. The script is being written currently and the makers of the film have got a nod from Ganguly.

It is being learnt that Ganguly's journey right from his childhood to his captaincy days and finally becoming the BCCI president would be captured in the film. Although Bengali has been an important language throughout Ganguly's life, the film will be made in Hindi.

Bollywood and cricket have had camaraderie for a long time. There have been films made about MS Dhoni and Mohammed Azharuddin. Even Sachin Tendulkar had featured in a documentary based on his life. There's a film expected to release next year based on the 1983 World Cup win with Ranveer Singh playing the role of Kapil Dev.
