New Delhi: Glenn Maxwell has been appointed as the captain of  Kings XI Punjab for the tenth edition of the Indian Premiere League.

The Australian all-rounder will replace India Test opner Murali Vijay.

Maxwell had a sparkling season with Kings XI Punjab on IPL 8 when he displayed breathtaking stroke play and helped then franchise to reach the finals of the season.

However, Maxwell’s performance went downhill from thereafter and he was also dropped from the team in previous season when Kings Xi finished at the bottom of the table with just four wins from 14 games. South African David Miller started the season as the skipper but was relieved of the leadership role midway.

Kings XI will start their IPL 10 campaign against Rising Pune Supergiant on April 8 in Indore, their second home venue after Mohali.
