Melbourne: Cricket Australia says former test opener Justin Langer will coach the Australia Twenty20 side in three matches against Sri Lanka in February.
It is the second short-term coaching assignment in less than a year for the 105-test player, following Langer's stint in a one-day international series win in the Caribbean in June, making him favorite as a possible successor to Australia coach Darren Lehmann.
CA said on Friday that Langer will coach the T20 side in three games at Melbourne, Geelong, and Adelaide in February while Lehmann is in India preparing for a four-test series.
The 46-year-old Langer also coaches the Western Australia state side in the Sheffield Shield, and the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash T20 league.
