Former Australian cricketer and well known commentator Dean Jones died at the age of 59 in Mumbai on Thursday after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. Jones was in India as part of Star Sports commentary team for the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The tragic news of Jones passing away led to a pall of gloom and shock around the cricket fraternity with tributes pouring in from all quarters.

While most of Dean Jones team mates from the Australian national team and his state side Victoria paid tributes to him, Indian cricketers of yesteryears who competed against him and the notable starts of the current team also took to social media to express their condolences on the sudden demise of the cricketer.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in UAE for IPL 2020, also took to Twitter to pay his tributes to the Australian great. Besides Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag were among the leading cricketers who offered their condolences on the sudden demise of Jones.

"Shocked to hear about the tragic loss of Dean Jones. Praying for strength and courage to his family and friends," Kohli wrote on Twitter.






Australian cricket team captain Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, David Warner and others leading cricketers also paid their heartfelt tributes to Jones. "Still in shock hearing the news of Deanos passing. Thoughts are with Jane and the family at this incredibly tough time. A great man with an amazing passion for the game," Australia's white-ball captain Finch wrote on Twitter.
