Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul achieved a personal milestone and broke a major batting record in the IPL as he became the fastest Indian batsman to scale 2000-run landmark in the T20 league.


Rahul achieved the milestone in KXIP's match against RCB in Dubai on Friday (September) which the former won by a massive 97-run margin and secured their first victory of the season.

KL Rahul who needed just two runs to get to the 2000-run milestone at the start of the game against RCB, attained the feat in just 60 innings. He thereby became the fastest Indian batsman in IPL history to score 2000 runs, breaking the record of Mumbai Indians batting great Sachin Tendulkar who took 63 innings to achieve the landmark.

Former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir is third on the list, as he took 68 innings to get to the milestone. The top five are rounded off by Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag.

Rahul went onto top score with a blistering 132-run knock powering his team to a mammoth 206-run total. He also registered the highest score by an Indian batsman in Indian Premier League

KXIP skipper KL Rahul also became the 32nd cricketer in IPL's history to get to 2000 runs. Among Indian cricketers, he is the 20th to reach this landmark.

Rahul has been one of the most prolific run scorers in the IPL over the last 4-odd seasons.
