Nottingham: The 1st Test between India and England is being played under challenging circumstances. Runs have been hard to come by and the batsmen are struggling to even cross single-digit scores. One man, though, was a standout with his batting, which is KL Rahul. Zaheer Khan, in a recent video on Cricbuzz, has praised Rahul and compared him with one of India's greats - Rahul Dravid.
On a day when none of the top 6 managed to cross the 50-mark, KL Rahul played a sensible inning of 84 runs. Its because of his contribution that India managed to reach a score of 278 runs and get a sizeable lead.
Zaheer Khan, India's former pacer took notice of KL Rahul's performance and praised him to the extent that he compared the skills of KL Rahul to those of Rahul Dravid, India's "wall". He made the comparison between the two as KL Rahul and Dravid, both kept wickets and also played in the top order. Zak also mentioned some "Bangalore connection" as both the batsmen are from Bengaluru.
"'That' Rahul also held the wicketkeeping gloves for the team and this Rahul did the same as well. It could either be the Bangalore connection or the connection of their names but he's very talented too," Zaheer said on Cricbuzz.
KL Rahul last played a Test match in August 2019 and was denied a place in the starting XI since then. Mayank Agarwal was always preferred over him. It was only after Agarwal's injury that KL finally got a chance in the playing XI.
"Rahul Dravid has done so much for India that this show won't suffice to talk about it. But yes, seeing such a role model who has done so much for the team compared to him and seeing that he's being looked at with the same eyes, KL Rahul would be very happy," Zaheer added.
