Gary Kirsten has agreed in a consultancy role with Bangladesh for a short period of time in which he will help the Bangladesh Cricket Board to appoint a new coach for the national team.

"He [Kirsten] is working as our consultant for finding a coach. In order to do so, he is completing an internal audit," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said

"Earlier we proposed a long-term association until the next World Cup, and he initially agreed but later confirmed that he will only be available on a short-term basis as he has got other engagements,' added Chowdhury.

In a three-day visit Kirsten attended many meetings with officials and also players like Mashrafe Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal to determine some names for the role of the head coach which has remained vacant the departure of Chandika Hathurusingha

Besides all of these, Kirsten will also help the team to file an assessment role where he will lay down guidelines which according to him can help the team to succeed in the World Cup coming next year in England.

"We are looking forward to the assessment report that he is expected to prepare for us after the internal audit. The most important thing is that he wants to work independently and we are just providing him with the logistic support. He is fixing the meetings himself and talking accordingly.

"He is putting his emphasis on making a road map to develop the team keeping in mind our future engagements like the ICC World Cup and ICC World Twenty20. He, in order to prepare that report, is talking with the concerned people."

"We have sent him some names. We had some recommendations," Chowdhury said. "He has spoken with the coaches who have been recommended by us and he is also talking to coaches of his choice."

"We hope to appoint the next head coach before the series against West Indies."

The 50-year old has guided the Indian team to the 2011 World Cup and also has helped the side to become the No.1 test team in the World in 2009. Not only he helped India he has also helped South Africa to achieve the No.1 spot in the tests in 2012. The former South African batsman is currently the coach of the Hobart Hurricanes in the BIg Bash and also is the batting coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
