In what comes as a major relief to die-hard fans, admirers and well wishers of Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev, the 1983-World Cup winning captain's health condition is stable after he underwent an angioplasty on Friday (Oct 23) in a hospital at Delhi post complaining of chest pain.

Kapil Dev is expected to get discharged in the next couple of days, apprised Escorts Fortis hospital in Okhla where he is admitted.

The cricket fraternity was in a state of shock when they heard of the news and immediately took to social media to pour in their prayers and wishes for the iconic cricketer to get back in good health.

Kapil Dev took to his official Twitter handle to express gratitude for the overwhelming concern and support by one and all in the cricketing circles. He added that he is on the road to recovery. "Thank you everyone for all the love and concern. I am overwhelmed with the good wishes and well on the road to recovery," Dev tweeted.


Leading the bandwagon to wish Kapil on a speedy recovery were 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar and Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Notable among other leading cricketers who posted their wishes were Gautam Gambhir, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina and Kapil Dev's former Indian team mate Chetan Sharma.

In an stellar international career that spanned a decade and a half from 1978 to 1994, Kapil took 434 wickets and scored 5,248 runs in 131 Tests, bagged 253 wickets and notched up 3,783 runs in 225 ODIs.
