The third ODI between Ireland and South Africa was played on Monday (October 7). An interesting visual from this match has now gone viral on social media. The former South Africa cricketer and the current white-ball batting coach of the South Africa JP Duminy was called upon as a substitute fielder in the final over of the Ireland batting innings. In his international career, Duminy scored over 9,000 international runs and took over 130 wickets.

Notably, several players from the South Africa team have sustained injuries. This was the reason Duminy had to step on the field as a fielder. While Temba Bavuma was ruled out because of an elbow injury, Wiaan Mulder had to fly back home because of personal reasons. Tony de Zorzi is also suffering from a knee injury and hasn't been in action since the series opener.

JP Duminy Rolls Back The Years With Sensational Fielding Effort

While Duminy was called upon, he rolled back the years with a sensational fielding effort. No wonder that the video of his fielding effort is going viral on social media. Duminy was appointed as Proteas' white-ball batting coach last year. Talking about the series, even though South Africa registered wins in each of the first two ODIs, they went on to lose the third ODI in Abu Dhabi by 69 runs.

Paul Stirling was adjudged the Player Of The Match. The Ireland skipper set the tone with his 88 off 92 as Ireland batted first and posted 284/9. In response, South Africa were bundled out for 215.
