The England cricket team has received a huge blow during the second day of the first Test against Indian at Edgbaston. Newly appointed vice-captain Jos Buttler injured his finger while fielding and has been taken to the hospital for an x-ray.

Buttler dived in an attempt to catch India captain Virat Kohli off the bowling of Jimmy Anderson and immediately looked into discomfort.

As the ball didn’t carry much, it clipped his fingertip as he dived to his left at gully. Buttler immediately called for substitute fielder and was taken to the hospital shortly after.

Dominic Bess was deployed on the field to replace Buttler.

Meanwhile, the India batsman tumbled against the England bowling attack. Youngster Sam Curran picked up 3 wickets before the lunch break, reducing India to 76/3.

In the second session, all-rounder Ben Stokes completed his 100 Test wickets, as he removed Rahane (15) and Dinesh Karthik (0).
