England's seam bowling great James Anderson attained a monumental milestone in his glittering Test career when he took his 600th wicket in the longer format of the game on the fifth and final day of the third Test against Pakistan. Anderson scaled the milestone by dismissing Pakistani skipper Azhar Ali for 42 in the visitor's second innings at the Ageas Oval in the drawn Southampton Test on Sunday.


England clinched the 3-match Test series against Pakistan 1-0 after the third and final Test hit by rain at Southampton ended in a tame draw. England also went onto secure their first home series win against Pakistan since 2010.

Anderson became the fourth bowler in Test cricket history to have attained the herculean landmark. The only bowlers to have attained the 600-wicket milestone in Test cricket before Anderson happen to be the trio of retired legendary spinners – Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (800 Test wickets), Australia’s Shane Warne (708) and India’s Anil Kumble (619).

James Anderson scripted history as he became the first fast bowler in Test cricket to scalp 600 wickets. Anderson joined an elite list of Test bowling greats in Muttiah Muralitharan (800 Test wickets), Australia’s Shane Warne (708) and India’s Anil Kumble (619) to have achieved the feat.

HIGHEST WICKET TAKER FOR ENGLAND IN TEST CRICKET

James Anderson is England's highest wicket taker in Test cricket. Anderson went past Ian Botham's record of 383 wickets to become his nation's leading wicket taker in the purist form of the game.

MOST FIVE WICKET HAULS FOR ENGLAND

James Anderson has the most 5 wicket hauls for England in Test cricket. The speedster claimed his 28th five wicket haul against South Africa in to go past Ian Bothom's record of most 5-vers for English in red ball cricket. He is second with Glen McGrath (29 F-vers_ on the list of most five wicket hauls by a seam bowler in Test cricket.
