Dublin: Ireland defeated South Africa in the 2nd ODI by 43 runs. It is a shocking result for the Proteas as they suffer their first-ever loss against Ireland.

Ireland won courtesy of some brilliant innings from captain Andy Balbirnie, Harry Tector, and Dockrell. With this win, Ireland has also made sure that they don't lose the series against South Africa as the first match of the three-match series was called off due to rain.

After winning the toss, South Africa opted to bowl first. Balbirnie scored an important century first-up for Ireland. He was dismissed for 102 by Kagiso Rabada. When Balbirnie got out, the score was 194/3 in the 42nd over. The final touches, or rather, the acceleration was provided by Harry Tector and Dockrell. More than 100 runs were added in the last 10 overs.

Here is the Highlights package of Andy Balbirnie's century that won the day for Ireland:

Ireland scored 290 runs in the first innings!

After coming into bat, South Africa got all out for 247 runs. Janneman Malan showed some promise at the top of the order, but he was dismissed by Dockrell for 84 runs. It was a collective bowling performance by the Irish.

The win will definitely boost the confidence of the Irish cricketers who managed to secure their first win against the Proteas. South Africa and Ireland had played 5 ODIs previously out of which SA had won all. This loss is sure to invite some criticism along for the South Africans.
