On Wednesday, the Indian Premier League confirmed that Rajasthan Royals' owner batter  Devdutt Padikkal has been traded to Lucknow Super Giants while Avesh Khan in return will be joining the Royals. Padikkal played for the Rajasthan-based franchise for two seasons in 2022 and 2023 after starting his career with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Avesh on the other hand started playing IPL for RCB too in 2017 before coming in to play for Delhi Capitals, where he played for four seasons between 2018-2021. During the mega auction ahead of the 2022 edition, he was roped in by LSG. The Madhya Pradesh-based player has played a total of 47 games in the IPL and has taken 55 wickets so far. While playing for LSG, Khan took part in 22 games and scalped 26 wickets.

“Avesh Khan has been traded to Rajasthan Royals (RR) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) while Devdutt Padikkal is traded to LSG from RR during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) trading window ahead of the TATA IPL 2024," an IPL statement read.

Avesh was traded for his usual fee of INR 10 crore to the Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, Padikkal is set to play for LSG as he also got traded for his existing fee of INR 7.75 crore from the Royals. The left-hand batter has played 57 IPL games and has collected 1521 runs, smashing a century and 9 fifties. The Karnataka-based batter played 28 matches for RR and amassed 637 runs.

As of now, only two trades have taken place ahead of the IPL 2024 as Romario Shepherd was the first one who was moved by the Super Giants to the Mumbai Indians earlier this month. The player auction for the 2024 season is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai.
