Sports is often said to work its magic as a remedial therapy for humanity in testing times and often acts as a great healer to alleviate the sufferings and pain of millions who endure challenging.

In a heart warming and noble initiative taken by Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the IPL franchise have come up with a noble initiative where RCB players would offer their tribute throughout Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season to the Covid-19 warriors, who rightfully are deemed as the real heroes working relentlessly in the frontlines to save millions of lives amid the ongoing battle against coronavirus.

The RCB 'Red and Gold Brigade' would be paying tribute to these Real Challengers through #MyCovidHeroes initiative.

The entire RCB squad will proudly don a tribute jersey with the message “My Covid Heroes” both during their training and league matches slated to be played all through the thirteenth season of the IPL. The message will be displayed on the back of both the jerseys.

RCB team will also be supporting GiveIndia Foundation by donating the proceeds from the auction of the jerseys that players wear during season’s first RCB match.

RCB captain Virat Kohli said he was proud to be a part of the campaign. “Indeed a great campaign to be part of. It’s something we are doing for the first time. These people have come out of their own to help the people selflessly not thinking about their own situation, only to help others. We are happy to be a part of this campaign to wear this jersey during training as well as during the matches,” Kohli said during the launch of the initiative.

Kohli also lauded and saluted the Real Challengers who worked tirelessly to help others during the lockdown and shared his learnings from the experience.

“From personal point of view, we did not have any of these challenges which some of this heroes have faced. The first hand challenge of watching some of these people do their basic work, not able to go back home when they had an option, showed their character. They were respectful of their job, irrespective of how bad the situation is. It taught me not to run away from situations. Everyday we were inspired and amazed. That was my personal experience,” Kohli said.
