A day ahead of the commencement of the thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE, 21 Australian and England cricketers landed in Dubai on Thursday in a chartered flight from Manchester in England.

The cricketers who largely belong to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals teams arrived in Dubai to join their respective IPL franchises after completing their international commitments in the recently concluded 3-match ODI series which Australia won 2-1.

The cricketers who were already were placed in a bio-secure bubble in England while competing in the 3-match Eng vs Aus 3 T20I and ODIs series, will now enter the IPL bio-bubble before joining their respective franchises. They will now spend 36 hours in self isolation in their respective hotel rooms.

A picture of David Warner and Pat Cummins in full-body PPE kits after landing in Dubai has going viral on social media.

"Can anyone tell me who are these people? Unreal but yes the charter flight with the English and Australian players have just landed in Dubai for the @IPL and this is how they look! New Normal! Bring on the @IPL," tweeted India Today's Boria Majumdar.

The quarantine period of these players has been reduced to 3 days as opposed to the mandatory 6-day period maintained by players who initially arrived in the UAE from India because the English and Aussies merely shifted from one bio-bubble in England to another for the IPL.

The players will now have to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test for the novel coronavirus on their arrival.

"They have undergone one rapid test before boarding (the flight) and will undergo another on arrival. Otherwise, the robust testing protocols will be followed as usual. The rationale behind the move is that all the players are entering from one bio-bubble to another," the veteran BCCI official confirmed.
