Mumbai Indians (MI) left arm seam bowler Trent Boult on Friday achieved a personal milestone in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career as he took his 50th wicket in the coveted T20 league when he dismissed Kolkata Knight Riders opener Rahul Tripathi in the IPL 2020 game played at Abu Dhabi.

Mumbai Indians who registered their sixth win of the season by inflicting a massive 8-wicket defeat on KKR look certain to book their spot in the playoffs.

The swing bowler sent KKR's dashing opener Rahul Tripathi back to the pavilion in his second over of his opening spell to pick up his 50th IPL wicket. Suryakumar Yadav took a brilliant catch off the bowling off Boult when Tripathi cut a delivery outside off stump towards the point region.


Boult played his hand in MI's win after returning with figures of 4-0-32-1. Mumbai restricted KKR to 148 for five wickets in 20 overs. Boult who forms part of the Mumbai Indians seam battery has been in rich wicket taking form, scalping 12 wickets in eight games for the 4-time champs.

The Kiwi speedster has provided MI with early breakthroughs in five of the eight matches in the tournament so far. Boult has been one of the most successful strike bowlers inside the powerplays in the first three weeks of the season.

With 12 wickets in his kitty, Boult is the joint second highest wicket-takers in IPL, alongside his seam partner Jasprit Bumrah, RR's Jofra Archer and KXIP's Mohammed Shami. Delhi Capitals pacer Kagiso Rabada leads the wicket-taking list with 18 wickets.
