Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a dominant eight wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday (October 21) to climb to the second spot in the points table of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

RCB's clinical win over KKR was their seventh in ten games and helped them leapfrog defending champions Mumbai Indians on the second place in the points table

With 14 points in their kitty, RCB have drawn level on points with table toppers Delhi Capitals but are placed on the second spot due to an inferior run rate.

On Wednesday evening, RCB first restricted KKR to mere 84/8 in their allotted 20 overs and then chased down the target with ease, losing just two wickets and more than six overs to spare.

Mumbai Indians are very much in the playoff race with 12 points in their bank. It is notable that the 'Blue Brigade' have played a game lesser than RCB and have a chance to get back into the top two spots on the points table.

KKR Remain Intact On 4th Spot Despite Losing To RCB

Kolkata Knight Riders remained at the fourth spot despite their fifth loss in the season at the hands off Royal Challengers Bangalore. KKR have 10 points from their ten league games.

Kings Eleven Punjab have made giant strides in the points table following their hat-trick of wins in the business end of the tournament over Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

It is a uphill task for both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals to qualify for the play-offs as they find themselves on the brink of elimination on the back of losing some close games. Meanwhile, 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings find themselves out of the play-off race with just three wins in their ten games.

Orange and Purple Cap Standings
