3-time champions Chennai Super Kings will be locking horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians in a high octane opening clash in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League which will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 19.

The 'Whistle Podu' brigade have been doing the hard yards in their training sessions so as leave no stone unturned in their preparations for their campaign opener against arch rivals Mumbai Indians.

After the Covid-19 scare which saw the practice session of the 'Yellow Brigade' delayed by almost a week's time, CSK have made up for lost ground with rigorous training sessions by way of net practice and intra-squad matches.

Much to CSK's delight, all their star players in skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayadu seem to be in good rhythm as they have been stroking and timing the ball well in the nets and showcased some of their vintage form in the intra squad practice game.

Chennai Super Kings shared a video of the intra-squad match on their Twitter handle where Faf du Plessis, Murali Vijay and Ravindra Jadeja took to the crease to bat first against Shardul Thakur, Piyush Chawla and KM Asif. In the second innings; Shane Watson, MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu gave a glimpse of their eye pleasing strokeplay taking on other bowlers in the squad..

CSK has been tweeting videos of the team's practice sessions ahead of season 13 and the fans of the Chennai based franchise have been over the moon witnessing those towering hits by their beloved star MS Dhoni and the exploits of others in the net session.

Chennai Super Kings had initially planned to get their pre-season camp for the 13th edition of the IPL underway in the last week of August but had to postpone it after 13 members of their contingent including two players - Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad returned positive for COVID-19.

While 12 members have recovered from the Covid19 infection and joined back the bio-bubble again, Gaikwad remains positive and continues to be in quarantine.
