Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Sunil Narine has been reported for bowling with a suspected illegal bowling action during the match against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi. The report was made by the on-field umpires according to the IPL’s Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy, as per the press release. Narine, as per the rules, will now be placed on the Warning List and will be permitted to continue to bowl in the tournament. However, another such report will result in him being suspended from bowling in the 2020 IPL until cleared by the BCCI suspect Bowling Action Committee. "Narine will be placed on the warning list and is permitted to continue to bowl in the tournament," the IPL said, adding that another report will result in Narine being suspended from the tournament until he is cleared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's suspect bowling action committee. Narine has been a key player for Kolkata since he joined the team in 2012. He made an immediate impact as he took 24 wickets in his first season, which helped Kolkata win the tournament. Kolkata won its last IPL title in 2014 when Narine bagged 21 wickets. In this year's IPL, Narine has five wickets in six matches. This is not the first time Sunil Narine's bowling action has come under the scanner. He was reported for the same offence in 2015 and was banned from bowling off-spinners in that season and even missed the 50-over World Cup for the West Indies to work on his action. The International Cricket Council cleared his action in April 2016 but he had to pull out of the T20 World Cup in India that year. In March 2018, he was again reported during the Pakistan Super League.
