Kings Eleven Punjab might have succumbed to a fourth straight loss in the ongoing thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League in UAE but their explosive middle-order batsman Nicholas Pooran lit up the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday evening with some clinical ball striking against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Amidst the top order of KXIP faltering and failing rather quickly while chasing a daunting 202-run target set up Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pooran counterattacked the SRH bowlers by scoring a whirlwind 17-ball half ton. The Windies import stroked his way to a blazing 77-run knock of just 37 deliveries laced with 7 gigantic sixes and five fours.

The hard hitting Windies southpaw's half ton also happened to be the fastest half century in the ongoing season of the IPL. Overall, Pooran's fiery half ton was the ninth fastest half century in the history of the IPL.

Pooran launched himself into SRH's part time spinner Abdul Samad by belting him for a whopping 28 runs in a single over. The hard hitting strokemaker smokes four sixes and a boundary off the spinner in the 9th over of KXIP innings. Pooran got to his blazing half ton with a towering six in the same over.

Pooran continued with his brutal onslaught and continued to tonk the SRH bowlers to all corners of the park. However, with wickets tumbling all around him, Pooran too fell after his cut shot against Rashid Khan went straight into the hands of T Natarajan at backward point.

Pooran's half ton also was the second fastest fifty by a Kings Eleven Punjab batsman in the history of the franchise. KXIP skipper KL Rahul holds the record for the fastest 50 by a KXIP batsman, having scored a whirlwind 51 runs off 14 balls against Delhi Capitals in 2018 edition of the league.
