Opening the batting for DC against RR, Dhawan who scored a quick fire 57-run knock against RR, attained the record for scoring the most half tons by an Indian batsman in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The aggressive top order batsman top scored in Delhi Capital's stellar batting effort which saw the Shreyas-Iyer led team post a competitive 161-7 run total. Delhi went onto clinch a 15-run win as their bowlers bowled exceedingly well at the death to restrict Rajasthan Royals to 148-8.
The left handed opener registered his 39th half ton in IPL by scoring 57 against Rajasthan Royals. He went past Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli's tally of 38 half tons in the marquee T20 league.
Overall, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper and opener David Warner holds the record for most half tons in IPL with staggering 46 50s. Dhawan has now moved second behind Warner in the all time list for most half tons in the IPL. Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma are joint third with 38 half centuries each. AB De Villiers is fourth on the list with 36 50s to his name.

Dhawan is having a good outing with the bat in the ongoing thirteenth edition of the IPL as he has notched up 258 runs at a healthy average of 38 while opening the batting with Prithvi Shaw for Delhi Capitals in eight games.
