Power hitters Pandya brothers - Hardik and Krunal - and young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar brilliant bowling spell helped Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 40-runs at Kotla. It was the Pandya power that had bailed out Mumbai as Hardik (32 off 15) and Krunal (37 not out off 26) propelled Mumbai to 168 for five after the team lost its way in the middle overs.

With this win, Mumbai Indians (12 points) secured second spot in the points table, while Delhi (10 points) remain in the third spot. With outstanding figures that read three for 19 in four overs, nineteen-year-old Chahar bowled a brilliant spell to ensure victory for his squad as he removed both Delhi openers Shikhar Dhawan (35 off 22) and Prithvi Shaw (20 off 24).

The home team could never recover, losing wickets consistently with big names in the team failing to deliver. Iyer-led Delhi suffered its first loss in the last four games.

Earlier, Pandya brothers stitched an important 54-run stand to power Mumbai Indians to a challenging 168 for five against Delhi Capitals. For Delhi, Amit Mishra (1/18) and Axar Patel (1/17) bowled well on a slow surface, not letting Mumbai’s power-packed batting line-up get easy runs. Rohit Sharma’s (30 off 22) innings was short-lived but he ensured to get 8000 T20 runs, becoming the only third Indian to do so.

Mumbai reached a promising 57/0 by the end of powerplay, thanks to opener Quinton de Kock (35 off 27). However, Mishra got the big breakthrough by taking out Rohit. Axar Patel, on the other end, too made instant impact by removing Ben Cutting, leaving Mumbai at 63 for two.

With both Delhi spinners tightening the grip over Mumbai by restricting the run-flow, pressure which led to the run out of a well-set de Kock.

With Mumbai struggling, a late assault was provided by the Pandya brothers, with both going after Keemo Paul in the 18th over that leaked 17 runs. Kagiso Rabada scalped two wickets for 38.
