Chennai Super Kings will look to get back to winning ways when they lock horns against a resurgent Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League later on Tuesday evening. The match is scheduled to commence at 8 pm (IST) at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai.
The defending champions who had cemented their place at the top of the table for quite some time have been dethroned by Delhi Capitals who registered a six wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in yesterday's clash.
While Chennai lost their last encounter to Royal Challengers Bangalore by one run, Sunrisers Hyderabad would look to add to their point tally after defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last encounter. The 'Orange Army' now have five wins from nine matches and are well placed in the top four.
The Super Kings, who would relish playing their next three matches at home, have a very good opportunity to finish the league stage at the top of the table. The equation is exactly the opposite for the Sunrisers, who play only one home match in their remaining five.
The spinners will once again have a major role to play on the Chepauk pitch which has played out as a rank turner. Both CSK and SRH boast of heavy spin arsenal which can cast a web around the opposition. While CSK have Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh in their ranks, SRH have ace leggie Rashid Khan who can bamboozle batsman and turn a game on its head.
CSK has some worries in their batting order with the likes of Suresh Raina, exhibiting patchy form with the bat. With Shane Watson having a miserable run with the bat, the think tank might consider bringing in Murali Vijay or Sam Billings into the playing eleven. On the other hand, SRH have do not have any major worries with their openers David Warner and Johhny Bairstow going all guns blazing at the top of the order.
In a nutshell an enthralling clash is up for the taking later tonight as both teams would push hard for wins to cement their place at the top of the table ahead of the play-offs.
Can Dhoni's calm and cool captaincy act as the perfect deterrence to the heavy arsenal unleashed by Warner-Bairstow opening pair and help Chennai maintain their cent percent winning record at home.
