The Indian Premier League clash between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals saw many a records with the willow broken courtesy a whirlwind knock by Rishabh Pant and a fine century by Ajinkya Rahane. However there was one unwanted record which went in the name of Rajasthan Royals batsman Ashton Turner.

Turner who is having a dismal run with the bat after being dismissed for a duck in his first two IPL games, could not open his account for a third successive time against Delhi Capitals on Monday.

Turner, thereby became the first overseas player and the sixth player overall to be dismissed for three consecutive ducks in one season of the IPL.

Turner had a great opportunity to build on the solid platform with Ajinkya Rahane having hit a century. However, the nightmare continued for Turner as he chipped a full, slow ball from Ishant Sharma to Sherfane Rutherford at extra cover to fall for a golden duck.

Turner also became the first player in Twenty20 history to be dismissed for five consecutive ducks and in the IPL, he joined an infamous list of players who were dismissed for a hat-trick of ducks.

Turner has been having a horrendous run with the bat even before the IPL as he fell without scoring for Australia against India in February, which was preceded by another golden duck in the BBL for Perth Scorchers against Sydney Strikers.

“I can’t believe what I’m seeing here,” one commentator said of Turner’s most recent duck. “You just can’t do this even if you tried.”
