The second T20I between India women and South Africa Women at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium was abandoned due to rain on Thursday. The toss could not happen due to continuous drizzling. There was an inspection at 8 pm after which the match officials decided to call off the game.


The match got abandoned without a ball being bowled. The washout game means that India go into the third of the five games with their 1-0 lead intact.

Earlier in the first T20I, the Indian eves registered a stunning 11-run victory over South Africa at the same venue. All-rounder Deepti Sharma turned out to be the wrecker-in-chief, returning with the magical figures of 3/ 8, including 3 consecutive maidens.

The game witnessed a full house at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. Even on Thursday, people gathered in huge numbers despite a telling forecast for the evening.

The team will face South Africa in the third T20I here on September 29.
