India Vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, Day 1: India's Day 1 of the 2nd Test match ends on a dismal note, as rain has abandoned more than 50% of the play at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. With only 35 overs bowled, Bangladesh will carry the overnight score of 107/3 on Day 2, as the Indian Cricket Team (ICT) fans fear a washout of the 2nd Test match.

This Test match is of utmost importance to the Indian team, as they have a hectic schedule for the winter season, with them hosting New Zealand and playing away at Australia by the end of the year.

The World Test Championship 2023 Final was contested between India and Australia, and both sides are in commanding position to repeat the final next year at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London, with them dominating the first and second place in the WTC 2023-25 points table respectively.

India Vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, Day 1 HIGHLIGHTS

India named an unchanged playing XI, while Bangladesh made two changes, as Taijul Islam and Khaled Ahmed replaced Nahid Rana Taskin Ahmed. Seeing the overcast conditions, Rohit Sharma elected to bowl first and the move paid-off dividends, as Akash Deep produced a wicket within his first over via an excellent catch at slips from Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Upon losing Zakir Hasan for a duck inside the first 10 overs, the duo of Shadnam Islam and Mominul Haque had the onus of seeing off the early pressure but the former failed to do so by following Zakir Hasan back into the pavilion after just 4 overs, as Akash Deep picked up his second wicket of the innings.

A strong partnership between Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto took place as the duo registered a 51-run stand before Ravichandran Ashwin did the damage by removing the skipper.

Only 10 overs were bowled in the second session as play was called-off due to heavy rain.
