Day two of the India vs Bangladesh second Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur has been called off due to rain. Not a single ball was bowled on Day 2 after only 35 overs were possible on the opening day of the second Test match. India are 1-0 up in the two match series, having won the series opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared an official announcement on X to confirm the development from the Uttar Pradesh's Industrial town. "Play has been called off for Day 2 due to rains," their post read.

India Beat Bangladesh In Chennai In Less Than Four Days

Even though only 35 overs have been bowled so far in the match, the hosts would still be hoping for a result in their favour, having beaten Bangladesh inside four days in Chennai. However, what would be worrying will be the fact that rain could interrupt the match on Day 3 as well. In that case, it would be difficult to see a result in this match, with the fixture likely to end as a draw.

Notably, Bangladesh had entered into this Test match on the back of a historic Test series win over Pakistan. While they did put the hosts in a spot of bother in the series opener, reducing then to 144/6 in the first innings, India ended up winning the Test match eventually riding on Ravichandran Ashwin's all-round brilliance who first scored a ton to bail India out of trouble before scalping six wickets in the final innings of the Test match.
