From what is being learnt so far, there is no clarity on the number of retentions that will be allowed to teams, with the number of retentions to be allowed ranging between 2 and 8. There is no updated on the Right To Match (RTM) option too so far. While some reports suggest that there will be an RTM option this time around like the previous seasons, others are claiming that the IPL governing council is likely to do away with the rule.

No Clarity On MS Dhoni's IPL Future

As far as MS Dhoni's cricketing future is concerned, there is no clarity yet on whether or not the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend will ply his trade in IPL 2025. The wicketkeeper-batter's decision to participate in the next season of the competition could depend on the retention policy decided by the IPL Governing Council. Dhoni already handed over the captaincy of CSK to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of IPL 2024, dropping a major hint that the end of his IPL career is coming sooner than later.
