The Twenty20 season begins with the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will go on for some time more for the Indian team. India is set to take on South Africa immediately after IPL 2022 is over, reported Cricbuzz. 

The series is likely to be played between June 9 to 19 2022, while Cuttack, Vizag, Delhi, Rajkot and Chennai are the venues designated for the IND vs SA T20I series.

The designated series will be played in June 2022 and will go on for 10 days. This series is likely to have five T20I matches and will be played before the Indian team heads to England for an unfinished Test and six limited-overs matches.

A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official said that the South Africa series is part of India's FTP (Future Tours Programs) and was always going to be played after the IPL 2022 was over. 

"This is part of the FTP and there were always to be played after the IPL," the BCCI official said.

The IPL will start on March 26, 2022, and will be played till May 29, 2022. 

The first match of the tournament will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders, a report by ANI stated.

The IPL 2022 will be played in a new format. The teams will be divided into two groups.

IPL New Format Explained:

The teams are divided into the above two groups. Each team will play twice against the teams in their own group and also will play twice against the team in the same row from the other group. Teams will play one match against the remaining four teams in the other group.
