India Squad For Zimbabwe T20Is: Even as India are potentially three matches away from ending a world title drought in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, a big news is coming in regarding India's next white-ball assignment. It is being learnt that a young India side will be touring Zimbabwe for a 5 T20I-series beginning on July 6. Irrespective of what happens in the T20 World Cup, the core of the team which is playing the ICC event, including Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma, will be rested for that series, it is being reported.


A media report carried by Indian Express claims that in absence of Rohit and with Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav also likely to be given be a break, a young batter who is not part of the 15-member squad participating in the T20 World Cup, will captain the side. The Indian batter who might be trusted with the leadership responsibities on the Zimbabwe tour happens to be none other than the Gujarat Tirans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill.

Other than Gill, the report carried by the aforementioned publication claims that Abhisek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Nitush Kumar Reddy, Tushar Deshpande, Harshit Rana, the players who were all part of the Playing 11 of their respective franchises in the IPL as well as those on the bench in the T20 World Cup 2024- Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh will all be flying to Zimbabwe.


Meanwhile, it is also being reported that a provisional 20-member squad for the Zimbabwe series has already been picked by the senior selection committee, the Ajit Agarkar-led team were waiting to hear back from Hardik and Suryakumar. If this report indeed turns out to be true, this will be a maiden India call-up for Abhishek Sharma, will Reddy's part time seam bowling ability working in favour of his selection.
