The White Ferns join Australia as the two teams to proceed to the knockouts from Group A. By winning their last league fixture, New Zealand eliminated both India and Pakistan from the tournament.
India lost to Australia in their last group-stage fixture, resulting in their fate getting out of their hands. A win for Pakistan would have left India, New Zealand and Pakistan tied at four points each in Group A, and India's superior net run rate (NRR) would have secured their place in the knockouts.
