New Delhi: South Africa beat India by 7 wickets in the second one-day international in Paarl on Friday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead and clinch the series. The hosts successfully chased the target of 288 runs with seven wickets remaining.
The innings was anchored by the opening pair of Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan and shared a solid 132-run opening partnership while Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen added crucial 74 runs for the fourth wicket as South Africa chased down 288 against India to take 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. The inconsequential third ODI will now take place on Sunday in Cape Town.
Meanwhile, the stand-in ODI captain of the Indian cricket team, KL Rahul is facing the heat as India aims to bounce back in the second ODI but failed to do so. Rishabh Pant's hard-hit 85 scores to spearhead India's bid to square the series went in vain.
For the second game in a row, the Indian bowling lacked teeth to trouble the opposition batters.
Earlier, India lost the first match on Wednesday by 31 runs as South Africa rode twin centuries by skipper Temba Bavuma and Rassie van de Dussen to put a solid total and then defended it well. Follow here live cricket scores and updates of SA vs IND, second ODI.
