The first two sessions of Day 4 of the Kanpur Test were divided. The first was clearly won by the visiting team while in the second session, Indian batsmen did show a bit of respite. Although the lead that India has at tea (216 runs) doesn't look quite enough with this New Zealand side.

Nonetheless, India would have struggled even taking the lead past 200 if not for the brilliant 65 by Shreyas Iyer! Iyer scored 65 that included eight boundaries and one six.

Iyer grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he scored a century in the first innings of the match, and then saved India from an embarrassing score and have given a real fighting chance for the Indian bowlers.

Only Behind Dhawan and Rohit

Shreyas Iyer's 105 in the first innings, and 65 in the second innings combined (170 runs) has become the third-highest score for India on debut. Shikhar Dhawan holds this record as the Delhi batsman has scored 187 on his Test debut. Rohit, on the other hand has scored 177 on debut.

What Remains Of The Kanpur Test...

Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee picked three wickets each so far. It has been a good Test match for the pace-duo of New Zealand.

The wicket has just gone dry as the match has progressed. Many experts have criticised the way the Kanpur wicket has behaved from Day 1 of this Test match.
