In the very first over of Day 2, Steve Smith suddenly moved away while Siraj was running in full flow. Reacting to this, an angry Siraj threw the ball towards Smith in frustration, leading into a war of words. Smith even tried to explain Siraj that he lost his concentration due to the spider-cam, which forced him to walk away.

Indian cricketing legends Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar, who are part of the broadcasting team for IND vs AUS WTC Final 2023 match in England, slammed Siraj for his 'overreaction'.

"What is happening? I mean these are the second and third deliveries of the day," a miffed Sunil Gavaskar said on air.

Commentator Ravi Shastri pointed out that Steven Smith had every right to move out of the way.

"Steve Smith just backing away. Didn't please Siraj but Smith had every right to move out of the way. It's more the frustration of Siraj being hit for two boundaries. He got sounded off by Rohit Sharma the previous ball," said Ravi Shastri on air.
