Young Indian opener Shubman Gill, widely regarded as 'prince of Indian cricket', has been in red-hot form since the start of 2023. The star batter scored runs consistently across formats for team India and even batted brilliantly in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, scoring three record-breaking T20 centuries. 'Orange Cap' winner Gill (890 runs in 17 IPL games) was the highest run-scorer in the tournament. Before IPL began, Gill became the youngest player to hit a double ton in history of One-Day-Internationals. Most likely, he will be part of India XI in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Fans expect Shubman to continue his form in the ongoing India vs Australia World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 Final in England. Meanwhile, players associated with the IND vs AUS WTC final match were asked to share their opinion about Shubman.

In a video uploaded by ICC, Shubman talked about his father's love for cricket. For this reason, at the age of just three, he motivated him to start practicing with the bat. Shubman started practicing with a plastic ball and with time became a better player. Shubman's counterpart Rohit Sharma said that Gill has full potential to become a big player and has everything a player needs at the international level. Rohit even called 23-year-old Gill 'the next big thing in Indian cricket'.

"Shubman Gill has so much potential. Without a doubt in my mind, he is the next big thing for Indian cricket. He has everything that is required to have success at this level. I just hope that he continues his good run of form," Rohit told the ICC.

Shubman Gill played for India in the inaugural World Test Championship Final, played between India and New Zealand in 2021. Back then, he batted as an opener against New Zealand and scored 28 in the first innings and eight in the second innings.
