India's tour of Australia has started with the first match of the three-match series taking place between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground at the moment. But it seems that the Australian commentators are not aware of what all is going around these days with the Indian cricket team and its players!

IND vs AUS, 1st ODI: MAJOR GOOF UP! Adam Gilchrist offers condolences to Navdeep Saini instead of Mohd Siraj

Two former Australian cricketers Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne made a big mistake while commentating during the IND vs AUS, 1st ODI match. Both of them mistook Navdeep Saini for Mohammed Siraj and paid tribute to Saini's father instead. While it was Mohammad Siraj's father who died last week.

Gilchrist and Warne were in the commentary box at SCG during the seventh over of the Australian innings, when captain Virat Kohli brought Navdeep Saini to the bowling front.

At the same time, both of them started discussing that it will not be easy for Navdeep Saini to bowl in today's game because his father died last week. After a while, people started tweeting about this mistake of the commentators. Here's the video.

"@gilly381 FYI- its not @navdeepsaini96 father who died. It was Mohammad Siraj! @FoxCricket #goofup #commentarygoofups" wrote a user.

Gilchrist also realized his mistake and responded with: "Yes, thanks @anshu2912 I realize I was mistaken in my mention. Huge apologies for my error, to both @navdeepsaini96 and Mohammed Siraj."

Mohammed Siraj's father passes away: How Siraj made his way to the Indian squad?

After a great performance in IPL 2020, Mohammad Siraj was selected for India's tour to Australia. But last week, his father died. The BCCI gave Siraj the option to return back home for attending his father's last rites but he had decided to stay with the Indian team in Australia.

Navdeep Saini had complained of backache. Therefore, the BCCI decided to include T. Natarajan in the team just 10 hours before the first ODI match against Australia. The BCCI tweeted on Thursday night at around quarter to twelve, that speedster T. Natarajan has been included in Team India for the ODI series. However, Navdeep got a place in the playing eleven in the Sydney match.
