After facing a highly disappointing defeat against India at Trent Bridge, England have received a huge blow which might impact their performance for the rest of the series.
In-form batsman Alex Hales, who missed the first ODI due to injury, has now been ruled out of the rest of the ODI rubber. Hales sustained a side strain a few hours ahead of the 1st face off on Thursday.

As per reports, Hales will be out of action for coming three to four weeks which will also restrict his participation in Nottinghamshire’s Vitality Blast campaign.
In the first ODI, hales was dropped almost a month after his century in England’s record braking 481 against Australia. His absence gave chance to all-rounder Ben Stokes in the playing XI. However, the star all-rounder put up an extremely slow batting show, scoring a 50 runs of 103 balls.
On the other hand, Dawid Malan, who was called up as Hale’s cover in the first face-off will remain with the squad for Saturday's second match at Lord's after overtaking Sam Billings in the one-day pecking order.
In due course, replacement for Hales for the final game in Leeds will be decided.
