India's comprehensive win against England in the first game of the three-match ODI series has catapulted the Indian team to third position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. After the win, three more points were accorded to the men in blue which took their total from 105 to 108. This helped India knock out its arch rival Pakistan from the position. Earlier the Pakistan team was placed third in the list with 106 points, reported news agency ANI.

New Zealand tops the ICC ODI Team Rankings list with 126 points, followed by England which is at second position with 122 points.

In the match played on Tuesday, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah shined with the ball to help men in blue restrict England to a meagre score of 110 runs. During the match  Bumrah scalped 6 wickets for 19 runs. Mohammed Shami was also on fire as he took three wickets, while Prasidh Krishna managed one. Right through the game the Indian pacers looked in good command as they bowled the right line and length to the English batsmen.

Indian sailed through the match with ease and recorded a ten-wicket victory over England with captain Rohit Sharma scoring 76 off 58 balls. Shikhar Dhawan made 31 runs and remained unbeaten. The game was won with more than 31 overs to spare.

Since being appointed as the ODI captain, this was Rohit Sharma's fourth consecutive win.

India has a chance to further climb up the ladder of ODI rankings as there are two more games to be played against England, while a three-match series against West Indies is scheduled for this month.
