ICC Hand USA Cricket, Cricket Chile 'Notice Period', Deem Them 'Unfit' On Grounds Of Administration And Governance

ICC Annual Board Meeting: USA Cricket and Cricket Chile are in deep trouble, as ICC hand them a notice period and deem them 'unfit'. Here are the details.

ICC Annual Board Meeting: The International Cricket Council (ICC) have officially handed USA Cricket and Cricket Chile a notice period, as the apex cricketing body deem both the boards 'unfit' on grounds of administration and governance. USA were the co-hosts alongside West Indies for the recently-concluded Men's T20 World Cup 2024, which India won after defeating South Africa in an iconic final.

However, as per several reports, ICC endured a heavy loss of INR 167 crore at the tournament and have reportedly scheduled to start an investigation in concern with the matter. The majority of the losses occured during the matches in New York, Florida and Dallas.

Administrative failures were reported in huge numbers, and the pitches and ground quality of Nassau Cricket Stadium were extremely poor, and complaints for the same reason was raised by BCCI as well.

ICC have, on Monday, July 22, confirmed of the investigation in their ICC Board and Annual General Meeting in Colombo, and the research will be led by directors Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khwaja (deputy chair of ICC), who will report back to the Board later in the year with a detailed explaination and reviewing in concern with the delivery of Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

 

Official Statement Of ICC On Handing USA Cricket, Cricket Chile Notice Period

"The ICC Board confirmed that there will be a review into the delivery of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. This will be overseen by three directors, Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khwaja who will report back to the Board later in the year."

"USA Cricket and Cricket Chile have been formally put on notice and have 12 months to rectify their current non-compliance with the ICC Membership Criteria. Neither Member is considered to have in place a fit for purpose detailed governance and administrative structure and systems."

"The ICC Americas office will work with Cricket Chile to support them in remedying their non-compliance. The Board agreed that a Normalisation Committee comprising of Board and Management representatives will be set up to oversee and monitor USA Cricket’s compliance roadmap and the ICC Board will reserve its right to suspend or expel the Member for continued non-compliance."
