While there have been a lot of organising hurdles already in the build up to the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 already, the scheduling nightmare continues for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as yet another state association has requested them to reconsider one of the matches that it has been allotted. It is the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) who has requested the Indian Cricket Board to reschedule Pakistan's warm-up fixture against New Zealand on September 28 rescheduled.
The request from Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) comes after security agencies have said that it would be difficult for them to provide security for this match due to festivities like Ganesh Visarjan and Milan-Un-Nabi that end on September 28. The same has been claimed in a report carried by Indian Express which has also claimed that the HCA had earlier written to the BCCI to reschedule the two back-to-back World Cup 2023 league games at the Rajeev Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

However, it would be interesting to see the response from the BCCI since the ticket sale for all the matches as well as the warm-up games has already been put on sale. As per the current schedule, while New Zealand and Netherlands will play square off in Hyderabad on October 9 while Pakistan and Sri Lanka play at the same venue on the following day, October 10.
For the unversed, the World Cup 2023 schedule has already undergone changes. As many as nine matches were rescheduled including the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which was originally slated to be held on October 15 but was advanced to October 14 to avoid clash with the start of Navaratri. On that occasion too, it was the security agencies who had expressed the state association its ability to provide security for this match.
