An extremely disappointed Jake Ball was ruled out of the remainder of the domestic season after sustaining a back injury during a T20 Blast match against Derbyshire earlier this month.
Ball, out of action since August 2, was hoping to regain his fitness by the end of this month and get back to representing Nottinghamshire but that wasn’t to be. Naturally, the England fast bowler was gutted. “I’m extremely disappointed to get the news, I’d hoped to be back for the final parts of the season but unfortunately that isn’t possible,” Ball was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
The tall fast bowler was far from his best in the ongoing T20 Blast, picking up only 3 wickets in six matches and leaking 9.26 runs per over. But his experience was worth of gold for the Notts. The 27-year-old, however, stated that he will be with the team to support his teammates in their quest to defend the title. “I’ll be following and supporting the boys and hopefully we can get through to Finals Day and have a go at defending our title,” Ball added.
Injuries have time and again stopped Ball on the tracks, not allowing him to enjoy a full season and stake a claim in the England Test side. Ball had a terrific county season, picking up 28 wickets at a very good average of 22.25 in six games. He was part of the limited overs side that played against India last month.
