Former Indian speedster Ajit Agarkar has given a huge statement on Indian test opener Murali Vijay’s career. The 34-year-old batsman was dropped from the Indian squad for the last two Tests against England following his dismal performance.

After Vijay's abrupt exit from England, Agarkar, who had smashed a Test century at Lord's against England, has reckoned that his career is in grave danger, especially after his recent string of failures

Vijay has been replaced by 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw who recently led the Indian U-19 team to lift the 4th World Cup trophy.

Terming Vijay’s axing ‘a harsh decision’, Agarkar said, “It is okay that Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul have got a few more runs than Murali Vijay, but that’s a bit harsh.”

“Looks like it’s the end of…you should never say that someone will never play again, but it does look difficult as to how Murali Vijay will get back into the squad when the replacement is a young kid which implies that they are obviously looking forward,” he added.

Vijay’s performance with the bat has been disappointing so far in the series. He opened for India in the first two games and managed to score just 26 runs in four innings. Moreover, Vijay scored two ducks in both the innings of the Lord’s Test. This was an embarrassing record and he became the sixth Indian opener to score ducks in both innings of a Test match.
