While quite often the batters and fielders are advised to keep their eyes on the ball till the last moment, even spectators are not that safe when they are inside the stadium. There have been several instances in the past in which the ball has gone on to injure fans. A similar incident was on display during NZ vs PAK 3rd T20I on Wednesday. It happened during Pakistan's run chase at the University Oval Stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand.

It was a tough day on the field for Pakistan who first conceded 224/7 in their 20 overs. Pakistan were on the receiving end of a masterclass hundred from Finn Allen who ultimately got out for 137 but only after he had done enough damage. His 62-ball stint was enough to ensure that the Kiwis find themselves in the driver's seat.

Pakistan always looked behind in the run-chase. However, Babar Azam was once again a positive for them. In the 13th over of the run-chase when Babar was tested with a short-pitch ball from Matt Henry, the batter made a brilliant connection with a hook and cleared the fence for a six. However, it seemed to have landed on the head of a spectator who was walked around casually. The video of the same has gone viral on social media. It is being learnt so far that the fan has escaped serious injury.

Babar Azam's Efforts In Vain

Despite Babar Azam's efforts, who scored 58 off 37, the visitors ended up the second-best on the day and lost the match and the series. The touring party will have to play for pride in the remaining two matches and would want to bounce back in the fourth (Jan 19, IST ) and the fifth (Jan 21, IST) T20Is and figure out a template that works for them ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.
