The Indian women’s team scripted history as they outplayed England in the final match of the series that was Jhulan Goswami’s final ODI. They won the series 3-0 against the hosts. However, there was one controversy that transpired after Deepti Sharma ended up running out of Charlotte 'Charlie' Dean.
Dean was looking good with the bat and she was batting on 47 but Deepti smartly run out the batter as Dean was halfway down the crease. The incident has started a debate among the viewers that whether the dismissal was ethical or not.
The new rules of ICC consider ’Mankading’ as run out and as a result, people are now taking sides. While some people criticized Deepti’s action, others said that it was within the rules of ICC and that whatever the bowler did was right.
In the latest Instagram post, Charlie Dean has finally given a clue that it was her mistake. She posted a number of pictures from the Mecca of cricket- Lord’s and wrote, "An interesting end to the summer. What an honour it is to play at lords in England colours. I guess I’ll just stay in my crease from now on."
Earlier, Deepti Sharma revealed why she went for the run out as she said that they had warned Dean repeatedly but she kept moving out of her crease.
"It was a part of our plan because we had warned her and she was doing it again and again. Whatever we did was as per the rules. We had also told the umpire about it," Sharma told reporters.
