ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023: England cricket team announced their playing XI for ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 2nd Test, set to be played at Lord's cricket stadium from Wednesday (June 28) onwards. Australia defeated England by two wickets in the first Test to take 1-0 lead in five-match Test series. In the second Test, England will aim on leveling the series 1-1. Veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali has been dropped from England's playing XI for Ashes 2023 Lord's Test with Worcestershire pacer Josh Tongue being named as his replacement. Moeen Ali was part of the English team for series opener which they lost to Australia by 2 wickets.

Josh Tongue made his Test debut for England in the one-off Test match against Ireland on 1st June 2023. He could not take any wickets in the first innings of 1st Ashes Test but made a super comeback by taking match-defining 5 wickets in the second innings.
How Australia defeated England to win first Ashes 2023 Test by 2 wickets
England stunned everyone with their decision to declare their first innings at 393/8 whe Joe Root was batting on unbeaten (118*), in reply to which Australia scored 386 runs on back of Usman Khawaja's century (141). After this, England were reduced to 273 runs in their second innings, giving Australia a challenging target of 281 runs for the win. It was not easy for Australia to achieve the target but in the end, Aussie tailenders Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon showed incredible resistance to power their team to a thrilling 2-wicket win.
