New Delhi: Sri Lanka’s journey from bad to worst got another shot in the arm when Dinesh Chandimal was ruled out of the reaminder of the five-match ODI series against India after fracturing his thumb.
"SLC confirms that Test captain Dinesh Chandimal will be out of action for the rest of the series after sustaining a hairline fracture to his right thumb. We will have a better idea of timeline of his recovery after consulting a specialist in Colombo tomorrow," a media release from SLC said.
Chandimal, who was drafted into the side after regular ODI captain Upul Tharanga was handed a two-match suspension for maintaining a slow over rate, suffered a blow on his right thumb during the 3rd ODI.
He was batting on 25 when a Hardik Pandya bouncer caught him off guard, causing a hairline fracture. He struggled his way to 36 but was dismissed soon after by the same bowler with another bouncer.
