Having won the fife IPL title, Mumbai Indians is one of the most dominant teams in the history of Indian Premiere League. On the back of their brilliant performances over the years, they have earned a huge fan base. What makes Mumbai-based franchises unique is they always back young talent. Going by the same order, Mumbai Indians roped in South African batter Dewald Brevis in the IPL 2023 auction. Brevis made headlines after the Under-19 World Cup in 2022 and even showcased his finesse for Mumbai when he smashed Rahul Chahar for four back-to-back sixes.

But unfortunately, Brevis has been struggling with his form and now the 20-year-old is eyeing to make it big in the much-awaited Major League Cricket 2023. Brevis will be playing for MI New York in the tournament and will be looking to make the most out of it.

"It feels like my blood feels blue, the way I've been taken care of, it's a big thing for me. The MI family makes me feel like I belong. They backed me at a very young age after the under-19 World Cup and gave me a platform. And I'll always be grateful to that. I'll always be true to that. So, I'll run through a wall for them. And the bond is very special," Brevis told Cricbuzz.

"I think just believing it and knowing that there is a big plan for me in my cricket journey, and I trust in that. There's a saying in the Bible, where it says that your journey is already planned, and you don't have to worry about it every single day, it will happen at the right time. Don't rush it. So, it's going to happen at a certain time. Like God's timing is always better," Brevis said.

The tournament based out of the USA will be played between July 14 to 31 across two venues, with six teams in the fray. Teams like MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, and Washington Freedom are the teams that will fight for the top honors.
