Nellai Royal Kings registered a thrilling win against Dindigul Dragons in the second qualifier of the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 in Tirunelveli. It was an roller coaster of a game that swung in favour of one team and the other before the chasing side in Nellai Royal Kings managed to register a win off the last ball. While Dindigul dragons had set a target of 185 runs, in response the Nellai Royal Kings were struggling at one stage to get going and had scored 129 for 3 in 16.3 overs.

It all came down to batter Nidhish Rajagopal having to retire as he was not in the best of touches and had only accumulated 26 off 27 balls. The equation was stacked against the team batting second with them requiring 56 from 21 deliveries. However, Ritik Easwaran, who joined Ajitesh Guruswamy in the middle, had other ideas. He began to find the much-needed boundaries to keep his team in the match.

While Dindigul captain Vimal Khumar entrusted a youngster G Kishoor to bowl the high-pressure over despite him going for 17 runs in his last two overs, the two batters, especially Easwaran, showed no mercy on him in their bid to win the game for their side. Easwaran started the over by hitting three back-to-back sixes, the fourth ball fetched a single. On the fifth ball, Guruswamy was on strike and he scored a big six before a single off a no-ball and yet another six from Easwaran. The team needed 37 runs from the last two overs to secure victory but due to this massive over, the equation came down to 4 off the final 6 balls which they managed to score to register an epic comeback win.
