The third and the final Test match of the series being played between Australia and Pakistan got underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Wednesday. While Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, Australia did well to bowl them out for 313 within the first day 1 itself. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan ended up as the top-scorer for the Pakistan team, making 88 runs off 103 deliveries while Aamer Jamal made 82 off 97. Agha Salman also scored a half-century (53 off 67) before the visitors were bundled out in 77.1 overs on Day 1.

However, one of the defining moments of the day came before the start of Australian innings as Pakistan led by Shan Masood gave a heartwarming guard of honour to Australia opener David Warner who is participating in his farewell Test. The video of the same was shared by Cricket Australia on their official social media handle in which Warner looked visibly emotional walking out to bat for what could be his penultimate innings in the game's longest format.

Pat Cummins Wrecker-In-Chief For Australia

For Australia, it was Pat Cummins who was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball in hand, scalping five wickets for 61 runs. Mitchell Starc (2/75), Josh Hazlewood (1/65), Nathan Lyon (1/74) and Mitchell Marsh (1/27) were the others who found themselves amongst the wickets.

After the Pakistan innings concluded, the Australian openers didn't have much to do as they only had to survive an over before stumps. It was Warner who faced the six deliveries bowled by Sajid Khan and ensured that he keeps the dream of a fairytale farewell Test alive as he will walk out to resume Australia's innings along with Usman Khawaja when action resumes on Day 2 on Wednesday in Sydney.
